Senior Lecturer, Division of Microbiology and Parasitology
Cambridge University, UK
Catherine Merrick is a Senior Lecturer at Cambridge University, UK. Her research group focuses on improving our understanding of the basic biology of malaria parasites and the impact of this biology on virulence.
She is particularly interested in DNA biology, including mechanisms of DNA replication and cell-cycling, non-canonical secondary structures such as G-quadruplexes, telomere maintenance, and the control of gene expression and evolution in virulence gene families.
She holds BA and PhD degrees from Cambridge and UCL and was previously a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard and then a faculty member at Keele University.
